Umang Street Vendors Cooperative Society Limited is the result of the collaborative efforts of the Institute of Social Research and Development (ISRD) in its project on the rights and entitlements of social security schemes for individuals dependent on the informal economy in Madhya Pradesh. ISRD has been actively working towards uplifting the rights of unorganisedlabour since 2014, supported initially by ActionAid/European Union and currently by the Azim Premji Foundation. Through these projects, ISRD has closely engaged with street vendors, construction workers, and domestic workers in Bhopal, recognizing the need for an association or federation to ensure the sustainability of these efforts
